Theresa Dostaler founded SynergyREC in response to her own passion for community based research, evaluation, and community development. Theresa is sought after for her facilitation skills and believes no one should have to endure an unproductive or dry meeting. Theresa holds a Masters in Community Psychology and has worked with numerous agencies and organizations to design and implement community based research and evaluation, complete strategic planning, and develop reports that can be used for the multiple audiences. Sarah Cannon is the Executive Director of Parents for Children’s Mental Health, Ontario. PCMH represents the voice of families raising children and youth in Ontario with mental health disorders/illnesses. Sarah and Theresa co-developed “Bringing Family Engagement into Action – a Training Curriculum for Family Engagement” in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health. Sarah also co-developed the “Made in Ontario model of Family Support” and “Family Support Training Curriculum” in partnership with the Ministry of Child and Youth Services, and Kinark Child and Family Services. Sarah is an Advisory Member to the Ontario Provincial Centre of Excellence in Child and Youth Mental Health; one of the original and founding members of the Ontario Coalition for Child and Youth Mental Health; as well as participating in many Provincial, and National committees representing family voice including the Ministry’s Family Advisory Council on Moving on Mental Health. In 2009 Sarah was awarded the For Kids Sake Award by Today’s Parent, in 2010 the Kinark President's Award and most recently was awarded the YWCA’s Woman of Distinction Award for her work in children’s mental health.
Kelly Allan is the Executive Director for Family Space Quinte Inc. Kelly has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education, and family services for over 30 years. She has a passion for families and children and is the mother of a 19 year old who is working towards her Masters of Social Work Degree. Kelly is a Registered Early Childhood Educator, holds a certificate in Adult Education from Brock University, and is working towards her Bachelor of Education in Adult Education Degree. She is the current chair of the Special Education Advisory for the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, Current Chair of the Provincial Special Needs Managers Network, past co-chair of the Provincial Ontario Early Years Network, and Children and Youth Services Network for Hastings and Prince Edward County. Kelly has an expertise in community development and integration and has worked with SynergyREC on projects focused on family engagement in the social service sector.
